Seriously, whose idea was this?

Why does no one see the irony in doing a Gingerbread Village display, made from 1,000 pounds of gingerbread and 800 pounds of icing, as a fundraiser for diabetes research?

Ha! That kills me!

Though if "they" were really on top of it, they'd use sugar free recipes for the gingerbread and icing, and sugar-free candy for the decorations.

I agree!

By the way, I know of a middle-schooler who declined to participate on a diabetes fund-raiser because they wanted the kids to sell donnuts to her classmates. She said that she didn't want to increase their chances for diabetes!

haha! I am in obesity research and I recently went to a symposium attended by all the people involved in the care of morbidly obese people in my city. You have never seen so much deep-fried food served in your life!

Hmmm, reminds me of the Krispy Kreme doughnut fundraiser that a group at my former grad (medical) institute held for diabetes research....

Can I confess something here? When I am really, really, really stressed my favorite relief is a can of buttercream frosting. I am a horrible person.
